Our Story

For years, every trip back from India came with one challenge: how much of our heritage could we fit into a suitcase?

Brass oil lamps wrapped in newspaper. Block-printed table runners pressed flat. A tiny box of sandalwood incense that perfumed everything we owned. These weren't souvenirs — they were gifts for family, return favors for friends, and pieces to bring the warmth of home into our own.

“You bring all of this for people?” people would ask at the airport. Why else would we? You can't ignore your people because of geography.

That's how Home & Homeland started — a small, personal collective of friends who wanted to bring the best of India to the US. Every piece is hand-crafted by artisans we know personally, and every order is handled the same way we used to pack that suitcase: hand-cast brass, genuine block prints, diyas meant to be lit, not just displayed.

Based in Glen Allen, Virginia, we handle every order personally — the same way we used to hand out gifts around the kitchen table.
